Owner MUST inform Nantucket Creature Care if your pet(s) bite(s), has bitten, or is aggressive to people, other pets, or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Nantucket Creature Care reserves the right to refuse/stop services to such pet(s) at any time before or during the grooming process.
Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or pet with health problems, and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current medical problem during or after the groom. For that reason, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress. Owner(s) must inform Nantucket Creature Care of all health problems, new and old, at each visit.
There are many factors considered when deciding if it is possible to remove mats from a dog’s coat. The dog’s personality, medical condition, age and coat type, the amount of matting and where the matting is located. These answers contribute to the decision of whether to de-matt the animal safely or humanely or cut the hair short. Dematting is decided on a case by case basis. The comfort of the dog is paramount and the age old golden rule kicks in here - humanity before vanity! For that reason, pets with matted coats will be groomed for cleanliness, lifestyle and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress.
